AURORA - User Guide for devices with LoRa or NarrowBand IoT

This user guide applies to Aurora devices using LoRa and NarrowBand IoT. It will cover:

  • how to install batteries
  • turn on and off a device
  • and how to mount the device to walls.

Install or Replace Batteries

1. Start with removing the rear lid by removing rubber feet (1) that cover the four screws (2).

2. Unscrew all four screws (2) using T8 torx driver.

3. Carefully lift the rear lid and remove old batteries (4) from the device. 

 

Caution

When lifting the rear lid, do not twist while lifting. Keep lifting straight up to avoid the lid hitting components inside the box.

4. Insert two 1 new CR123 Lithium batteries as indicated. Do not mix old with new batteries or mix brands of batteries. Pay attention to the polarity of the batteries. An image of battery is printed on circuit board (next to battery holder) will show you the polarity of the batteries.

5. Close the rear lid and screw back all four screws. Finally cover the screws with rubber feet.

Battery information

  • A set of new batteries provides about ten years of use when device sends about six measurements an hour.
  • Actual battery life will vary with use, settings, environmental conditions and battery self-discharge (typical 1-2% per year).
(1) Some device only use one battery.

Turn on Device

  1. The device can be turn on by placing a magnet near magnetic switch symbol(2). Figure 2

Remove the magnet as soon as a green light is lit following by red light(3).

CAUTION:

Remove the magnet as soon as the red light is lit. If the magnet is near the power on/off zone while the red light is lit for:

  • 5 seconds, the device will enter configure mode for LoRaWAN device.
  • 10 seconds, the device will perform a factory reset for NBIoT device.

Turn off Device

  1. The device can be turn off by placing a magnet near magnetic switch symbol(2)for 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds, a green light (3) lights up. Remove the magnet as soon as the light comes on. After the magnet is removed, the green light may still be lit up to another 5 seconds.

    Restart Device

    1. The device can be turn off by placing a magnet near magnetic switch symbol(2)for 30 seconds.

    After 30 seconds, a green light (3) lights up. Release the button as soon as the light comes on.

     

    When the device is turned off, wait 60 seconds before turning on the device.

    1. The device can be turn on by placing a magnet near magnetic switch symbol(2).

    Wall Mounting

    There are three ways you can mount the device on a wall:

    1. Using the magnet on the back of the device to hang it to any steel wall.

    NOTE: Remove the small steel plate that covers the magnet before placing the unit on the wall.

    2. For none steel wall: Screw the steel bracket to the wall and hang the device to the bracket.

     

    3. Permanent screw the device to a wall: Screw the device to the bracket using two screws, then screw the bracket to any wall.

    How to install Door Magnet device

    Install as pictured. The Magnetic Symbol on the Aurora Device should be aligned facing the Magnet as shown.  Try to position as shown (not centered) for best results. The gap between the Aurora Device and the Magnet should be maximum 5 mm.
